I want my first blog post to be about Motherhood Minis, aka Mom + Me Minis or Mommy + Me Minis, because that's really where my heart has been since opening my new natural light studio in Ada, OK back in November of 2024. After much prayer and some time off to reflect last summer, I knew it was time for a change, and I believe wholeheartedly that this is it. To open a larger studio space and start working more with families..specifically moms.

Why are Motherhood Minis so important to me? Because Mom's are usually the ones BEHIND the camera when they're at home or away on trips with their families or on special occasions. I've heard moms say for years that they'd LOVE some good pictures of them with them kids, and now I finally have the space and time to focus more on these and families, and though I'll always love shooting outdoors at sunset, I now also have the option of a large indoor climate controlled, bug free, sticker free, chigger free environment where I can do these more. :)

My first annual, and hopefully semi-annual, Motherhood Mini Event starts next weekend inside my studio. I still have a few spots left and would love to work with all the moms in the area eventually, but for now here are a few reasons why I believe Motherhood Minis are important in general..

The Importance of Mommy and Me Photoshoots:

Capturing Precious Moments

Life moves fast, and as mothers, we often find ourselves caught up in the day-to-day responsibilities of parenting. Between diaper changes, school runs, and bedtime routines, it’s easy to forget how quickly time passes. That’s why capturing moments with a "Motherhood" photoshoot is so important. These photos not only provide beautiful keepsakes but also strengthen the bond between mother and child.

Preserving Cherished Memories

One of the biggest reasons to have a Motherhood photoshoot is to create lasting memories. Children grow up in the blink of an eye, and these photographs serve as a time capsule, preserving the special moments of each stage of their lives. Years later, these images will bring back cherished memories of snuggles, giggles, and the unbreakable bond shared between a mother and her child.

Celebrating the Mother-Child Bond

Motherhood is filled with love, laughter, and countless sacrifices. A Motherhood photoshoot is a way to celebrate this incredible journey. These portraits capture the connection, love, and joy between a mother and her child in a way that words often fail to express. They highlight the nurturing relationship that is at the core of every mother-child duo.

Boosting Confidence

Many mothers shy away from being in front of the camera, often prioritizing taking pictures of their children instead. However, participating in a photoshoot can be a wonderful confidence booster. Seeing yourself in these images, lovingly embracing your child, can be a reminder of how beautiful and powerful motherhood truly is. It’s a way to celebrate yourself and the love you pour into your little one every day.

A Special Experience for Both Mother and Child

Beyond the final images, the experience of a Motherhood Session itself is something special. It’s a chance to spend quality time together, free from distractions. The laughter, the hugs, and the playful interactions during the session make for an unforgettable experience. Your child will also appreciate looking back at these photos one day, seeing the love and joy they shared with their mother.

Creating a Family Legacy

Family photos become treasured heirlooms that can be passed down through generations. A Mommy and Me photoshoot adds to this legacy, providing future generations with a glimpse of the love that shaped their family history. These images tell a story—one of unconditional love, warmth, and the precious bond between mother and child.

Tips for a Successful Motherhood Photoshoot

Coordinate Outfits – Matching or complementary outfits can enhance the aesthetic appeal of the photos while showcasing your bond.

Keep It Natural – Candid moments often make the best photos. Focus on having fun and being yourselves.

Hire a Professional Photographer – A skilled photographer can capture the emotion and beauty of your relationship.

Be in the Moment – Enjoy the experience without worrying too much about posing. Let the love and joy shine through naturally.

Remember..

A Mommy and Me photoshoot is more than just taking pictures—it’s about capturing a love story that will be cherished for a lifetime. These images serve as beautiful reminders of the special bond between a mother and her child, moments that are fleeting but forever preserved in a single frame. If you’ve been thinking about doing one, don’t wait—because time waits for no one, but memories last forever.
